Yujing Zhang

Hand-built characters as emotional sculpture.

Working through hand-built forms, character-based narratives, and cinematic language, she explores the relationships between the body, emotion, memory, and everyday objects. Her works often exist somewhere between reality and dreams, combining tenderness, strangeness, and subtle psychological tension.

Through anthropomorphic figures and imagined characters, Yujing transforms private emotions and inner experiences into tactile visual narratives.

Exhibitions, programs, film, and animation.

Her exhibition and artistic-program experience includes the Zeng Zhuyun Art Scholarship, Wanying Youth Art, and Xinyucheng's Young Artist Program.

From 2018 to 2024, Yujing worked as an artist assistant at Hu Xiaofang Studio, contributing to a range of documentary, film, and animation projects. Her selected credits include serving as animation director for the documentary A Mole's Confession; creating art props for the films Love Novel and The Days When the Gods Left; directing the independent stop-motion animation Give Me a Call; and working on the art design of the stop-motion film The Angel and the Gentleman.

At Luna Angel Studio, Yujing continues to create original Dream Creatures and one-of-a-kind soft sculptures, expanding her exploration of handcraft, character, and contemporary sculptural storytelling.
